Day 1 Arrive Olepangi Farm

After driving through the beautiful Kikuyu Highlands vibrant bougainvillea signals you’ve arrived at Olepangi Farm. Karibu! After a hearty lunch, the afternoon is yours to spend as you like. You could wander round the farm and see the resident donkeys, tortoises and of course, horses! Enjoy a short ride on our 2 km canter to get accustomed to your horse and enjoy the local scenery. Or just relax ready for sundowners and followed by dinner down on the river by a roaring fire. With luck we’ll have a magnificent night of glorious stars and “whoops” from the local hyenas.

Day 2 Ride to Lolldaiga Ranch

Early risers can watch the sun rise over Mount Kenya. We’ll ride out from our farm after breakfast to the Lolldaiga Ranch. Often referred to as the most beautiful ranch in all of Kenya, we’re priviledged to have access to it. We’ll take our time enjoying the scenery and wildlife along the way.

Magic elephant sightings....nothing beats it!

Magic elephant sightings….nothing beats it!

“Clinton and Elizabeth have created the most magical safari experience of all time”

We’ll have a good chance of seeing elephant, giraffe, buffalo and, with luck, many other species. We’ll arrive in the afternoon in time for a rest followed by sundowners and dinner around the campfire.

Day 3 and 4 Riding on Lolldaiga

Wake up to a cup of tea or coffee in bed, followed by a light breakfast of toast and muesli. We’ll then head off on a long morning ride in a different direction each morning, enjoying the quiet and tranquility of this 49,000 acre private game reserve. Depending on the season this may involve some cantering, through the open plains or pushing-on through seas of tall grass following giraffe, zebra, antelope, elephant, buffalo; whatever’s out there. Morning rides can be anything between 4 – 6 hours depending on what we see. Back to camp for another brilliant lunch outside with the guides and there’s always some wine on offer to encourage a little nap before afternoon tea. The afternoon will be spent either game driving or walking and it’s a good opportunity to ask questions and take photographs. The bird-life is some of the best in the world and towards sunset there is often elephant interaction to enjoy. After your afternoon activity you will have sundowners with views that will take your breath away.

Day 5 Ride to Olepangi Farm

For your last ride we’re going to take you through different country, making our way through clouds of grass to plains dotted with cedar trees. While passing through woodlands, there’s a possibility of finding big game again. Our pace may increase as we break out onto the plains; perhaps disturbing troops of baboons or cantering alongside giraffes or cape buffalo. Back at Olepangi Farm, there’s time to shower before a final lunch, perhaps even try your hand at some archery or have a game of croquet.

For those who would like to stay on the farm longer, extra days are certainly an option. You could ride out along the boundary of Ole Naishu and enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. Or you could enjoy long walks along the river or just relax, read a book and soak up the joys of farm life. It’s up to you!

No problem if you prefer to walk!

Walking the Lolldaigas

In Camp – Whether you are traveling alone, as a couple or as part of a group, your time spent around the campfire, drinking sun downers on the deck, or dining al fresco will mean you are sure to make new friends during your stay.

Prior to your early morning ride you will be woken just before dawn with pots of tea or coffee, and with time for a slice of home made toast or a bowl of fruit before you set off.  On your return, late in the morning, you may wish to have a quick shower before indulging in Samson’s mouth-watering array of lunchtime fare.A siesta may beckon, whilst the sun is at its strongest, but a good book or sorting through your photos are popular alternatives. And, our night times around the campfire are famous for singing and the odd tall tale. Magic!

Amazing, captivating and the experience of a lifetime, no matter how you travel
