Safari Time

We have just returned from the most amazing safari in the Lolldaigas. Highlights from the trip include cantering into a heard of oryx to find 5 cheetahs appearing from the dry grassland just behind. Later that evening we went in our game vehicle to try and relocate the cheetah and stumble across a leopard giving chase to some Thompson’s gazelle  – a lucky, but by no means unusual, experience. On top of that we had some magical elephant sightings; hung out with the tiniest new born giraffe the GoWild team has ever seen and enjoyed superb views of Mt Kenya at sunset. Roll on next safari!

So much fun to ride out from the farm!

Four-hour ride with picnic
This is a fun, easy ride for those with intermediate ability.  It takes us along the eastern boundary of Ole Naishu with lovely long views and interesting glimpses of Masaii bomas.  If conditions allow, we might have the opportunity for a canter and maybe even a long gallop towards a rocky outcrop that features jaw-dropping views to Northern Kenya (pictured above.)  Here we stop for a lovely picnic provided by GoWild Africa and a well-deserved rest.

Two-hour farm ride
Our two-hour ride includes a wander around our farm including our 2 km purpose built canter.  We also ride out from the farm meandering our way through the local farmlands and enjoying the spectacular long views to  Mt Kenya and the Lolldaiga Hills.  On clear days we often see the Aberdares and Laikipia plains too.  Stunning.

Beginner riding lessons
We offer riding lessons for beginners using our exercise arena.  We offer a calm and comforting environment in which to learn.

For all our rides, we meet at the Olepangi Farm stables/ HQ where we match you with the most suitable horse to your skill level.  We’ve got a lovely team of well-schooled horses and are able to accommodate those who prefer a calm ride and those who are up for a more lively ride.

some spectacular neighbouring properties.

So where do you start when there is so much to do? Fortunately the excitement of chasing our dream made the whole process such an enjoyable experience.

We were fortunate to secure some terrific land in the heart of Kenya, with terrific views overlooking the neighbouring 36,00 Acre Wildlife Conservancy, a river running to the North of the property and ample land to create facilities for the horses, including a bush polo pitch! (we love polo).
